Rock / Stone Identifier by Photo (“the App”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is an AI-assisted tool that helps users identify possible rocks, stones, minerals, crystals, fossils, slag, glass-like materials, or similar objects from photos they choose to upload or capture with their device camera.
1. Information You Provide
The App may process images you upload or capture with your device camera, optional location or discovery context, selected identification preferences, selected result language, and any additional notes you type into the form.
Please do not upload private images, faces, documents, addresses, payment information, medical information, or any other sensitive personal data. The App is intended for rock, stone, crystal, and mineral identification only.
2. Camera and Photo Access
Camera access is used only when you choose to take a photo inside the App. The App does not access your camera unless you actively select the camera option and grant permission. Uploaded or captured photos are used to generate the identification result requested by you.
3. AI Processing
When you request an identification, the submitted image and form details may be sent to our server and then processed by an external AI API provider configured by the App owner, such as OpenAI, to generate the identification result.
The OpenAI API key is stored only on the server side and is not included in the Android application, frontend JavaScript, or any client-side code.
4. Technical Data and Usage Limits
The App may process technical data such as IP address, device or browser information, request time, app version, package name, upload size, error logs, local usage counters, and other technical information needed to operate the App, prevent abuse, apply free or paid usage limits, diagnose errors, and maintain service stability.
In the Android version, some usage information may be stored locally on your device, such as free usage count, subscription status, product ID, purchase token, usage windows, and related app settings. This local data helps the App apply usage limits without requiring a separate user account database.
5. Accounts, Payments, and Google Play
The App may offer paid subscription options through Google Play, such as weekly or monthly access plans. Payments, billing details, refunds, and subscription management are handled by Google Play according to Google’s own terms and privacy practices.
We may receive limited purchase-related information, such as product ID, purchase token, subscription status, and verification data, only as needed to activate paid features, restore purchases, prevent abuse, and verify subscription access.
6. Data Storage and Retention
We do not sell your personal information. The App does not require you to create a website account to use the basic identification feature.
Uploaded images and request details may be processed temporarily to generate the requested result. Server logs, security logs, error logs, and technical request data may be retained for a limited time for security, debugging, abuse prevention, and service maintenance.
Because the App may rely on third-party hosting, security, billing, analytics, and AI processing providers, some data may be processed by those providers only as needed to operate and protect the App.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Limited request, technical, payment, and diagnostic data may be shared with service providers only when necessary to operate, secure, process, improve, or support the App.
These providers may include hosting providers, security services, analytics services, Google Play billing services, and AI API providers.
8. Data Deletion Requests
You may request deletion of personal data associated with your use of the App by contacting us at [email protected].
To help us process your request, please include the App name “Rock / Stone Identifier by Photo” and, if possible, the approximate date of use, platform used, and any details that may help identify the relevant request. Do not send sensitive personal documents unless specifically required.
Where technically and legally possible, we will delete or anonymize data associated with your request, including relevant server-side records, temporary files, or support information under our control. Some information may be retained if required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, billing records, dispute handling, or backup integrity.
You can also delete locally stored App data from your device by clearing the App’s storage in Android settings or uninstalling the App. Clearing local app data may reset local usage counters and settings stored on your device.
9. User Responsibility and Safety
AI rock, stone, crystal, fossil, or mineral identification may be inaccurate or incomplete. The App provides educational and informational assistance only and does not replace professional geological, laboratory, safety, or expert analysis.
Do not cut, grind, heat, lick, dissolve, ingest, or handle unknown rocks or minerals in unsafe ways. Some materials may be sharp, toxic, radioactive, contaminated, or otherwise hazardous. Always verify important identifications with a qualified expert before making safety, collecting, selling, or handling decisions.
10. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can review and delete the information where appropriate.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, service providers, or data practices. The updated version will be posted with a new “Last updated” date.
